 It was a great night for Cornwall at the Food Reader Awards with Cornish businesses taking home 9 of the 13 awards. It was great to see KE favourite The Star & Garter in Falmouth picking up the award for best foodie pub. The other winners on the night were Paul Ainsworth, Watergate Bay Hotel, Strong Adolfo’s Cafe, Tin and Thyme Blog, Stein’s Padstow Seafood School, Fifteen Cornwall and Padstow Farm Shop.

 Ranger from Fal Oyster is looking to crowd fund support for a series of pop-up street food gatherings this summer kicking off with the 7th Fal Oyster Gathering at the end of March. There are some excellent rewards on offer so check it out here.

 The Cornish Chefs Club have announced that they will be holding a 2nd Epic Charity Event on Sunday 3rd July at Rosewarne Manor. The details are yet to be confirmed but it is likely to include an 8 course meal prepared by 8 different head chefs from restaurants all around Cornwall. You can keep up to date with developments on the events Facebook page here and you can contact them directly if you are able to offer an auction lot for the night.

The excellent Camel Valley Vineyard are looking for help with blending their 2015 vintage. Simply turn up to the onsite tasting room between 2-5pm on the 15th-19th February for the opportunity to taste and give feedback on the wine fresh out of the tanks.

St Keverne Farmers Market – The first running of this new farmers market on the Lizard was reportedly a big success with many stallholders selling out. The market takes place on the last Saturday of each month and more info can be found on their facebook page.

Recently added foodie events

Valentines day – Foodie events in February are inevitably focussed on the 14th, one of the busiest nights of the year for many restaurants. There are some great events and special menus being put on across the county and we have included many of them in the foodie calendar. Any others that we are made aware of are shared on social media. We particularly like the look of the menus at Tabbs, Truro and the Waymarker, Constantine.

26/02 Rosewarne Manor monthly tasting menu night. We’ve been lucky enough to get a look at chef Phil Thomas’ menu for the next event, which looks excellent. £45 for 7 courses.

The Gylly Beach Café are having a series of food themed evenings throughout February on Wednesday evenings. The themes are 3/02 steak 10/02 Sharing 17/02 French and 24/02 Seafood.

Naoko’s Kitchen is holding its second Japanese supper club of the year at the Hooked restaurant in Truro on 28/02. The themed for the meal will be Japanese valentines celebrations and will include 3 course of authentic Japanese cuisine.

Potluck Cornwall have 3 events in February. A children’s cookery and movie morning on 19/02, a chat & eat night at The Square Porthleven on 23/02 and a coffee cupping night at The Secret Garden Café, Truro on 25/02.
