Foodie Newsletter - 17/07/2016

There have been a couple of interesting new additions to the Cornish dining scene in the past couple of weeks:

The Carew Arms opened in the little village of Antony (near Torpoint) is a new pub, general store and café. There’s an impressive kitchen team assembled with Emily Watkins from the excellent Kingham Plough gastropub working with head-chef Jack Clayton. (

Coombeshead Farm in Lewannick near Launceston is a new collaborative project between two incredibly exciting current chefs, Tom Adams of Pitt Cue (London) and April Blomfield who has a number of Michelin starred restaurants in the US. The working farm will operate as a B&B guesthouse but bookings for dinner only are also available. You can read more about the project and those involved here.

Knightor wine are opening up their Portscatho vineyard on Wednesdays and Thursdays for a 5 week period over the summer. On Wednesdays there will be an opportunity to have a 2 course meal in the converted vineyard barn after the tour. You can find the details here.

Details have been announced for the 6th August beach banquet on Carlyon Beach in association with the Cornwall Project. The Cornwall Project helps to connect top chefs in London with the best of Cornish produce and this will also be the theme of the banquet. You can read all about it here.
